The Rooftop Loft: An Open-Air Wedding Ceremony in Southern Minnesota

An outdoor ceremony in Minnesota usually means a field, a barn lawn, or somebody's lake place. Beautiful, and all of it involves a drive, a shuttle and a plan for mud.

The Rooftop Loft is an open-air ceremony on a rooftop in a downtown, which is a thing almost nothing else in southern Minnesota offers.

What it is

The Rooftop Loft sits on the upper floor of our restored 1895 building in downtown Faribault. It holds up to 150 guests and comes with its own open-air rooftop patio.

It is not an overflow room. It has its own entrance, its own getting-ready suites, its own bar and its own patio. A couple booking the Rooftop Loft gets a venue, not a corner of one.

Why couples pick it over the Ballroom

Our Ballroom holds 430. Most couples do not have 430 people.

If your list is 80 or 120 or 150, a big room works against you. Half-empty is the thing nobody wants photographed. The Rooftop Loft is built for that guest count: full, warm, and loud in the right way.

The other reason is the ceremony. Outdoors, upstairs, open to the sky, with the town below you. Then your guests walk a few steps to dinner instead of getting back in their cars.

The rain question

Everyone asks, so: you are not stuck. The space works indoors and out, and our coordinator plans both versions with you well before the day. Nobody is making that call at noon on a Saturday in a panic.

What comes with it

The same as every rental here. Tables and wood Chiavari chairs, LED lighting, a bartender, a dedicated event coordinator, two getting-ready suites, a custom bar, patio access, liability insurance, and full setup, teardown and cleaning.

Catering is yours to choose: five preferred caterers at no added fee, or any licensed caterer for $500. The ceremony fee is $1,000 and includes the full changeover.

Come up and see it

A rooftop is hard to photograph and easy to understand once you are standing on it. Walk it in the 3D tour, then come up in person.

Rentals start at $3,500.
